The High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicle (HMMWV) was designed for use as a military transport vehicle and was made famous during the Gulf War. An original design requirement was a 12 year life span under combat conditions. It became available to the public in 1992 and was known as the HUMMER H1, with production running until the 2006 model year with the ALPHA H1. The H1 is able to cross streams 3 feet deep, Climb a 22 inch vertical wall, Navigate a 60% grade, Traverse a 40% side slope, all fully loaded with 2,500lbs. The H1 is the ultimate off-road vehicle and is the backbone of the HUMMER line. Without it we would not have the HUMMER’s we enjoy today which are truly Like Nothing Else!
